Malay gets back lost passport within hours

 Ajit Purang (71) of Tirumudivakkam near Pallavaram runs a Malaysian- based wood factory.

On Monday night, Purang and his assistant Ruhaiza (48) went to buy provisions at a supermarket on Dr Radhakrishnan Salai near Royapettah flyover. When they returned, a man standing near the car asked Ajit if the Rs 10 notes lying on the road belonged to him. When he turned to pick them, the man snatched his handbag and escaped from the spot. Ruhaiza who was seated in the car also failed to catch him.

While Ajit lodged a complaint at the Mylapore police station, a motorist found a bag lying in the middle of the road at Luz Corner and handed it over to a traffic police personnel. After the police personnel found the bag containing expired and current passports that belonged to Ajit Purang, it was handed over to him on the same night. Mylapore police have collected CCTV footage from the locality to identify the suspect. Further inquiry is on.
