The police on Friday detained Ramesh, Ramachandran, Manikandan and Mohamed Abbas, the man who was on the CCTV footage which the police released a couple of days back. Sources said that all of them are from Vyasarpadi. After seeing the photo released by the police, residents of Vysarpadi identified Mohamed Abbas and informed the police. Following that, on Thursday, police nabbed two of the gang members from there and two others from Sivagangai, where they had gone to sell the loot.

The district Superintendent of Police Santosh Hadimani confirmed that four of them were detained and would be arrested. The police are on the lookout for three or four more members of the gang who are involved in the case. They have not ruled out the involvement of employees working for Kiran Rao, the owner of Amethyst, behind the crime. The exact value of the gold will be known only after going through the recovered gold.

It may be recalled that the manager of Amethyst, Dayanidhi, along with three of the employees were traveling with the gold and cash in a cab after finishing an exhibition in Madurai on Sunday evening when the heist happened.
