Four-year-old girl killed as car overturns in freak mishap
A four-year-old girl died when the car, in which she was travelling along with her family, overturned on GNT Road near Red Hills on Wednesday. The girl was thrown out of the vehicle as the driver lost control trying to avoid hitting a dog that came on their way.

According to the police, the girl suffered severe injuries on her head in the incident and died on the spot. She was identified as Sanjana and travelling along with her family to attend a wedding in Periyapalayam.
“The family lives in Tondiarpet. She was with her mother Menaka (25) and grandmother Muthulakshmi (60) when the incident took place. They started to Periyapalayam on Wednesday evening,” said the police. Manikandan (22) was driving the car. When they reached GNT Road near Sholavaram, the driver steered the vehicle away from hitting a dog and rammed the central median. In the impact, the vehicle overturned. “Sanjana, who was seated in the rear end of the vehicle, was thrown out of the car after the door opened,” said a police officer.
While the girl died on the spot, three others were rushed to the Ponneri Government Hospital and are undergoing treatment, said the police. A case has been registered at the Sholavaram police station and further investigations are on.
