    5 held for attacking 2 history-sheeters

    The Ennore police have arrested three persons for allegedly attacking a history-sheeter 10 days ago and the Kasimedu police have arrested two men in connection with an assault on a reformed history-sheeter on Tuesday.

    ‘Assault’ Pandian (35) of Tsunami quarters in Ennore, who has several cases pending against him, was attacked in the wee hours April 13 when he was asleep at his lover’s house. A gang of five men entered the house and hacked Pandian with weapons before fleeing the spot. He was rushed to Stanley Government Hospital. On information, the Ennore police registered a case and secured five suspects on Sunday. After inquiry, three of them – A Gangadharan (24) of Ernavur, E Arunraj (24) of Tiuvottiyur, E Raja (20) of Tiruvottiyur -- were remanded in judicial custody and a hunt has been launched for one more absconding accused. Pandian is said to be recovering well.

    In another incident, two men who assaulted a reformed history-sheeter were arrested. The police said that Clinton (24) of Kasi Garden and Naresh alias Kadher (23) of Vinayagapuram in Tondiarpet had an ongoing dispute. On Sunday, Kadher, along with his friend, also named Naresh (23), confronted Clinton and developed a quarrel with him. Though Clinton tried to pacify them, the duo attacked him with a knife and fled the spot.

    The Kasimedu police registered a case and arrested the duo. They were remanded in judicial custody.
