Chennai
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)'s Chairman, Anil D Sahasrabudhe presided over an event organised by Anna University on March 24 in Chennai. He also released "Modern Scientific Thoughts"- a book authored by Professor P C Chandrasekaran during the event.
While addressed the press Anil said, "There were 14.5 lakh engineering college seats all over the country, among which only 8 - 9 lakh students were admitted for engineering course. So, steps are being taken to reduce the number of seats allotted to each college, to overcome redundancy"
He further added, "For the current year (2019 - 2020), there will be only 50,000 seats unfilled".
While answering to a question on AICTE's stand about introducing arts and science courses in engineering colleges, he said, "We want the engineering students to have integral growth along with other stream of education".
As per Anil Sahasrabudhe, the council was committed to expose students to interdisciplinary research.
