Heeding to the protest call by traders and political parties, more than 95 percent of shops, commercial establishments, hotels and bakeries were shut since Tuesday morning.
Earlier in this case, financier Thirunavukkarasu, Sabarirajan, Sathish and Vasanthakumar were arrested and were summoned in Coimbatore Court. The CB-CID had taken Thirunavukkarasu under custody for their interrogation with him.
Reports said that the accused had revealed various crucial evidences during the enquiry.
Further adding, it is expected that CB-CID will take the remaining 3 accused - Sabari Rajan, Sathish and Vasanth Kumar into custody for further enquiry.
Expressing their anguish in this regard, the traders and political parties had called for protest on Tuesday.
Following this, 95% of shops, commercial establishments, hotels and bakeries were shut. The ever buzzing market areas like Bazaar Street, Chathiram Street and Market Road wore a deserted look. Even eateries and shops at the bus terminus downed shutters, causing hardship for commuters and tourists.
More than 700 autorickshaws stayed off the road in support of the traders' protest. The police had stepped up deployment, headed by North Zone I.G Periyayya, DIG Karthikeyan, DSP Pandiarajan and ASP Gunasekaran, Madasami.
Around 750 police personnel were put in force, sources said.
