History-sheeter hacked to death, 3 detained
A history-sheeter was hacked to death by a six-member gang near Ambattur railway station. The police have detained three suspects in connection with the revenge murder.
Chennai
The deceased, Sathya alias Senguttuvan (37), was consuming liquor in the open when he was surrounded by the gang of six who reached the spot on two-wheelers. They attacked him with machetes.
While Sathya died on the spot, the gang fled. Shocked passers-by alerted the Ambattur police, who retrieved the body and sent it to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
After an inquiry, the police found that Sathya was one of the accused in the murder of history-sheeter Radha, an aide of ‘Puliantope’ Chinna. Sathya came out on bail in the case three months ago. Radha’s gang members, who wanted revenge for the murder, hatched a plan to eliminate Sathya and hacked him to death in Ambattur.
A hunt has launched for other suspects and three men — Nagaraj, Rajkumar and Nizamuddin — were detained for interrogation. The investigation officer said that they would be remanded on Thursday.
