Government school teacher falls off bike, dies on the spot

Leema Begum (43), who was teaching higher secondary students in Ponneri government school, was deputed as a supervisor in a private school at Panchetty for Class 12 board exams. The accident occurred on Madhavaram-Panchetty Road when Leena was riding pillion with her friend Mahalakshmi after completing supervision work.

Though the police suspected it to be an impact of chain snatching, it was later found that the bike skidded and Lemma fell from the bike to die on the spot.

The Police added that Mahalakshmi did realise that Leema had fallen from the bike. “She rode for a while longer and hen only Mahalakshmi realised that her friend was missing,” police said. The Ponneri police have registered a case and are investigating.
