IIT PALS organises ‘innoWAH’ competition for TN youth
The Pan Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Alumni Leadership Series (PALS), an education initiative, of IIT Alumni organized the finals and an exhibition of the finalists’ projects of ‘innoWAH’ the Innovation Challenge Competition, on the theme- ‘Engineering, A Healthy World’- held at IIT Madras Research Park.

A total of 29 teams from 28 engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu participated in the finals and demonstrated their projects to the panel of judges drawn from various industries. The main aim was to recognize promising young innovators and showcase their talent.
The teams also exhibited their projects to the panel of judges and visitors invited by students, faculty and management of various colleges, industry experts and professionals, as well as investors. Students from rural areas interacted with a people from different walks of life, which helps them build their communication skills and confidence.
Mohan Narayanan, Chairman PALS said, PALS has been providing 360 degree spread of interventions for students, faculty and management of partner institutes, many of them Anna University affiliated colleges and a few of them deemed universities.
This year’s theme brought in over 100 entries to the table, out of which 29 were short-listed for the finals. The students were given access to world class mentoring by experts from the industry. PALS’s aim is to drive innovation among students as core spirit and entrepreneurship.
“We believe this push will eventually take our partner colleges to a different league and set standards for industry when it comes to innovation, design thinking and ultimately even influencing customer behaviour”, Mohan added.
