Justice GK Ilanthirayan before whom the plea moved by Hindu Makkal Munnani (HMM) came up directed the Commissioner to file an action taken report within two weeks.

HMM led by its founder-organiser VG Narayanan had submitted that following the release of the posters outraging Hindu sentiments and women priests relating to a movie titled Maha directed by Jameel, a complaint was lodged with the city police in December last year seeking action against the director and the actor.

But despite the lapse of a few months, the police have failed to initiate any action and hence had no choice but approach the court seeking for a direction to the police as such scenes tantamount to hurting religious sentiments.
