Chennai
The PGCE and NTT, are both one-of-a-kind teacher training programmes, as part of DAV Guru Shikshanam, the centre for teaching set up by the DAV Group of Schools, Chennai.
After a successful year, the institution is opening admissions for its second year. “The course is largely inspired by top MBA schools in our country which follow a year-long intensive post graduate programme and allow students from any discipline to enter,” says Vikas Arya, Director, DAV Group of Institutions.
Accordingly, this full-time intensive programme, spread across ten months starting June 2019, will train students with both practical and theoretical knowledge to effectively handle classes from nursery to higher-secondary education.
The PGCE Programme will cater to classes I-X and the NTT programme will cater to Kindergarten (Lkg and Ukg). The curriculum includes subjects like health and wellness, leadership skills, inclusive education, child psychology apart from the academic subjects. The module on inclusive education is a partnership with Madras Dyslexia Association which will award a certificate to the students.
A highlight of both the programmes is the hands-on learning that students will experience in the various DAV Schools in Chennai, observing classes, assisting teachers as well as conducting classes. Upon completion, students will be given placement opportunities across several schools in and around Chennai.
