Burglars have field day, four houses looted

Rajasekar (46) of Cheran Nagar at Perumbakkam, a priest, had gone to Kumbakonam along with his wife Meenakshi (44) and two children on February 18. When they returned on Saturday night, they found the house door was tampered with and materials strewn around inside. Around 25 sovereigns were burgled from the house. The Pallikaranai police are investigating the case.

In another case, Tamil Selvan (25) of JP Estate in Avadi had gone to Murugan temple in Tiruchendur on Friday evening and returned on Sunday morning. He found that miscreants broke into the house and looted 20 sovereigns and Rs 20,000. Based on his complaint, the Avadi police are investigating.

In Kasimedu, 15 sovereigns and Rs 20,000 were burgled from a fisherman’s house. While Kumar (35) of Indira Nagar quarters in Kasimedu went for fishing on Saturday night, his wife went to Tiruvottiyur for work on Sunday morning. When she returned home, the house was burgled. Based on her complaint, the Kasimedu police registered a case and going through the CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

In Royapuram, a 40-year-old man filed a complaint that 60 sovereigns from the house went missing on Sunday. The victim is Shankar (40) of Grace gardens at Royapuram, who runs an LPG agency. His elder sister Nadia, a widow, noticed around 60 sovereign gold jewels missing from the cupboard when she was getting ready for a wedding. After preliminary investigation, the police said that there was no evidence of burglary and suspect involvement of family members in the case.
