Two foreigners, including a cancer patient, were cheated of Rs 3.28 lakh by men who posed as police officers near Perumbakkam on Sunday.
Chennai
Mohideen (50) had come to Chennai for cancer treatment along with his friend Kaalib Abdul (45). They were staying at a rented house in Perumbakkam as Mohideen was being treated at a private hospital in the locality.Â
On Sunday night, two men in a car came to their house and introduced themselves as police officers and conducted an ‘inquiry’ with them. The police said that the imposters allegedly took 1,400 dinars from the foreigners and asked them to submit details of their account at the Pallikaranai police station and get the money back. Â
Following this, Kaalib and Mohideen went to the Pallikaranai police station with the required proof on Monday morning. When they narrated the incident to the police, the station cops said that the duo was conned. The Pallikaranai police have registered a case and browsing the CCTV footage to identify the robbers.
