Two shops burgled in Pondy Baazar
Two shops, including a money exchange office, were burgled in Pondy Baazar in T Nagar on Thursday night.

The police said that foreign currencies worth Rs 21 lakh were stolen from the money exchange office, Rs 1 lakh was stolen from a textile shop.
The police said NBR Air Travels on the first floor and Money Exchange and a textile shop on the ground floor, which were closed after business around 11 pm on Thursday night was found burgled on Friday.
At least Rs 20 lakh worth foreign currencies, including US dollars, euros and Singapore dollars were stolen from the money exchange along with some imported watches. At the textile shop, Rs 1 lakh cash was reportedly stolen.
The shutter of a gold covering shop was also found damaged. Police noted that The CCTV footages show the men trying to break open shutter and then fleeing from the scene. There was no cash in the gold covering shop. Mambalam police registered a case and launched a hunt for the suspects.
The police noted that one of the suspects had left behind his watch at the crime scene. A sniffer dog was also pressed into the service to trace the burglars. Forensic experts have collected finger prints from the scene. Police said that the criminals could have entered the building through terrace and broken into the shops.
