Govt school HM held for sexually abusing student
A 53-year-old headmaster of a government higher secondary school in Uthukottai was arrested under the POCSO Act for allegedly sexually assaulting a school girl in the last week of December.

The arrested person was identified as Baskar, who was absconding since a complaint was lodged against him. After 45 days, police traced him at a relative’s house where he has been hiding, on Thursday.
The Uthukottai all-women police personnel produced him before a magistrate court, which remanded him to custody. Based on the details in FIR, the Education Department had ordered his suspension.
Police said Baskar, who was working at a school near Uthukottai, had sexually assaulted a Class IX student when she was in the washroom. After she informed the incident to her parents, a complaint was lodged with the police after which a case was registered.
