Imposter PMO officer arrested in High Court
A 38-year-old man who posed as an officer from the Prime Minister’s Office was arrested by the police at the Madras High Court.

A B Tech graduate from T Nagar, the man was employed at an air ticketing agency in the city, but carried a fake identity card that described him as protocol officer in the rank of assistant commissioner at the PMO, Delhi.
When S Prasad (38) came to the High Court to meet a lawyer in connection with a case involving his friend on Tuesday, his car hit advocate Muralidhara Rao, who suffered injuries. A group of angry lawyers dragged the driver, M Mohanavelu, out of the car and took him to Esplanade police station.
There, the personnel also conducted inquiry with Prasad and frisked him. They noticed that the Audi car on which he was travelling had stickers saying CBI, Interpol, Airport Authority of India, and a red coloured ‘G’ on the number plate as if it were a government official’s vehicle.
They alerted senior officers, who in turn contacted the PMO to verify the claims. When they received a reply in negative, the personnel began grilling Prasad in detail, forcing him to spill the beans.
According to the police, he had been sporting the fake stickers for the past eight months, using it while roaming around the city, enter high security zone in Chennai airport and even avoid paying road toll.
The Audi car that he was using belonged to a man who engages his cars to a taxi aggregator. Police said the expensive car was taken on a rent of Rs 650 per hour.
