Jewels worth Rs 20L stolen from World Bank employee’s house
Burglars broke into the house of a World Bank employee and decamped with 90 sovereigns of jewels, including diamonds, and Rs 80,000 at Nainarkuppam in Uthandi.

Sunilkumar, who works as a manager at World Bank’s Chennai office in Taramani, had gone to Hyderabad with family on February 1 and returned home on Sunday night. He found that his house door was broken open and jewels worth Rs 20 lakh, silver articles and Rs 20 lakh were stolen.
Based on his complaint, the Kanathur police registered a case after which fingerprint experts visited the spot and collected samples. Sniffer dog Jhansirani was also brought to the houseto trace which way the burglars escaped afterthe loot.
The police said that Sunilkumar’s house is located in a gated community with round-the-clock security and investigating how the burglars escaped with the loot without getting caught.
They added that the gang entered through the sliding window at the backside. The police are also going through the CCTV footage taken from the locality for further inquiry. The Kanathur police cracked another burglary case and seized the stolen cash of Rs 25 lakh from a gang a few days ago.
