Cabbie suicide: Policemen questioned
Two women police personnel of Government Railway police and a few traffic policemen attached to Tirumangalam traffic enforcement wing were questioned on Friday by their respective senior officers in connection death of Rajesh, who committed suicide allegedly after a traffic policeman verbally abused him, and the subsequent erasing of evidence from his mobile phone.

The police also said that the Joint Commissioner (West) B Vijayakumari, heading the special team formed to probe the incident, also interrogated the woman IT employee, who was present in driver Rajesh’s cab, when the harassment took place.
However, the police are yet to reveal any details about the policemen who were involved in the incident. The Joint Commissioner (West) as well as the Railway Superintendent Rohith Nathan maintained that the inquiry is on and the next step of action is yet to be taken.
The video, in which he blamed the traffic policemen for the extreme step, surfaced on Thursday as he had forwarded it to a friend before committing suicide by jumping before a suburban train.
Rajesh’s father Moorthi, mother Geetha and brother Boopathy on Thursday lodged a complaint with the city police seeking action against the traffic policemen, who verbally abused him, as well as the Railway police, who erased the data on the deceased’s phone. After this, Joint Commissioner (West) B Vijayakumari conducted an inquiry with Rajesh’s family that went on till Thursday night.
It is said that the senior officers assured the family to punish the traffic police personnel involved in the incident. Call taxi drivers’ union had made arrangements for the family to stay in the city,said sources.
Meanwhile, the CCTV footage from the locality, where traffic police personnel allegedly abused Rajesh, have been collected to identify who were posted at the spot for duty on January 25, said sources.
