18 kg ganja seized from two men
Railway police arrested two men from Andhra Pradesh for smuggling ganja and seized 18 kg of contraband from them. Muralikrishna (40) and Magesh Pranav (39) of Visakhapatnam reached Chennai Egmore railway station by Bhubaneshwar Express on Saturday night.

They then moved to Chennai Central to board Mangaluru Express to go to Kozhikode, Kerala, when they were intercepted by a policeman from the intelligence wing on suspicion. When searched, 18 kg ganja worth Rs 4 lakh was seized from them.Â
Both of them were remanded in judicial custody. Meanwhile, Puzhal police have seized huge quantity of gutkha products stashed in 40 sacks, which was being smuggled in a truck, and arrested the driver and his aide. Police, who were involved in a regular vehicle check near Kathirvedu flyover, intercepted the vehicle on suspicion. When they conducted a thorough search of the truck, the officials found gutkha being smuggled. The driver, Balaji, and his aide Ilavarasan were arrested. Further investigation is on.
