Free skill enhancement training at Anna Univ
Tapping the employment opportunities, especially in the automobile industry, and also to enhance employability skills, Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC), Anna University, jointly with Renault Nissan Technology and Business Center India (RNTBCI) will conduct an Employability-Skill Enhancement Programme (E-SEP) for final-year engineering students studying in the university and its affiliated colleges across the state.

The training programme will be conducted in five zones, such as Chennai (2 batches), Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy and Tirunelveli, where students will undergo a 10-day training programme at no cost, said CUIC director T Thyagarajan. Further, he pointed out that India is expected to become a major automobile manufacturing hub and the third-largest market for automobiles by 2020.
Stating that India is currently the seventh-largest automobile producer in the world with an average annual production of 23 million vehicles and will soon become the fourth-largest automotive market by volume, he said that the Centre allows 100 per cent FDI under the automatic route to boost the manufacturing sector.
“Based on this, many multinational auto makers have started to invest heavily in various segments in the industry in the last few years,” he said, adding, “Considering the fact that employment opportunities in the automobile sector and also to enhance the employability skills it has been proposed to conduct employability skill enhancement programme.
Accordingly, the final-year engineering students (those who will complete their course in 2019) studying mechanical, automobile, production, manufacturing, metallurgy, mechatronics, material science and industrial engineering branches in the University colleges and affiliated engineering colleges of Anna University will be benefited.
