From now, public need not visit the local police stations to get the police verification certificates as the Greater Chennai Police have launched an online portal to avail them on Wednesday.
Chennai
The city police Commissioner AK Viswanathan and ADGP of State Crime Records Bureau Seema Agarwal launched the facility. This will enable the citizens and private companies to apply for self-verification, job verification, tenant verification and domestic help verification on the Tamil Nadu Police website www.eservices.tnpolice.gov.in.
The government has fixed charges at Rs 500 per application for individuals and Rs 1,000 per application for the private companies and institutions. Earlier, it was Rs 1,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively. The applicants can pay online using one of the standard modes of payment such as credit and debit cards or internet banking.
The police verification will be completed within 15 days from the date of receipt of the application. The applicants can download the Police Verification Report (PVR) through the website. Further, a copy of the PVR will be sent to the registered e-mail ID of the applicant. The status of the application can be tracked using the PVR number, said a statement from the city police. Â
