B Thameem Ansari (13) of Tondiarpet, a Class 6 student of a private school, went to the Kasimedu fishing harbour along with his friends, Noor Mohammed (12) and Mohammed Ansari (12), on Tuesday morning. While they were playing in the sea, a giant wave dragged Thameem Ansari inside. The other two tried to save him but in vain.
After being dragged inside by another wave, they shouted for help and were rescued by fishermen from the locality who rushed them to a private hospital. However, Thameem Ansari remains untraced. The search operation was stopped late on Tuesday night and would resume on Wednesday morning, said the Kasimedu Fishing Harbour police, who have registered a case on the incident. In another incident, the fishing harbour police recovered the body of a 30-year-old man near the beach. He is yet to be identified, police said.  Â
