Infant dies while breastfeeding in Korukkupet

As Karthika started crying in the early hours, Devi began breastfeeding her. Suddenly the child became unconscious after which she was taken to a nearby hospital. However, the doctors declared her dead on arrival. The autopsy was conducted at Stanley Medical College Hospital.

The RK Nagar police, who registered a case, said that there was no foul play in the child’s death after the post-mortem examination report.

This is the third incident in city in which a child reportedly died while being breastfed. But one of the cases was converted into a murder and child’s mother was arrested for murdering the girl by smashing her on the floor.
