Gang chops off man’s wrist in attack
A 40-year-old man’s wrist was chopped off when he was attacked by a rival gang in Kancheepuram market on Saturday evening.

The victim, Thyagarajan, along with associate Mukundan (24), confronted two teenagers, who had earlier assaulted their 18-year-old relative Suman. The accused persons identified as Sakthi and Vasanth, both 18-year-olds, attacked Thyagarajan and Mukundan with machetes. In the melee, Thyagarajan’s wrist was chopped off.
He then fainted in a pool of blood, the police noted. The Kancheepuram Taluk police registered a case and a search for the teenagers is on. Thyagarajan has been admitted to the Kancheepuram Government Hospital. Sakthi’s father is a murder suspect and is currently lodged in prison, police said.
