Cheated by agent, driver begs at RTO

Mahendran, a resident of Orathi village near Maduranthagam and his two friends were removed from the spot by the police. During investigation Mahendran said that he had lost his driving licence a few months ago and had approached Paramasivam (45), the owner of a driving school in Maduranthagam, to get a duplicate licence card. Mahendran alleged that Paramasivam took Rs 5,000 earlier and Rs 2,000 more for the card. However, he didn’t get any licence issued. Two months later, when he questioned Paramasivam, he directed him to the RTO stating that he had made arrangements for the same.
On Tuesday, Paramasivam gave Mahendran another form and asked him to fill it and take it to the RTO where he claimed to have spoken with the officials and assured Mahendran that he would get his licence card as soon as he submitted the form.
But, when Mahendran went to the RTO office, the staff there asked him to pay Rs 1,000. At this, Mahendran said that he cannot pay any more money as he had already paid Rs 7,000 for the card. He then accosted Paramasivam who denied having received any money from him.
Dejected, Mahendran sought help from two of his friends and sat outside the Maduranthagam RTO with a bowl in hand, begging.
