Auto driver rewarded for honesty
Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan on Wednesday rewarded an autorickshaw driver for returning a bag with Rs 1 lakh cash and a tablet to a passenger who missed it in the vehicle.

The police said that the auto driver, Kanniyappan (41), found that a passenger had forgotten the bag with valuable and some documents when he reached home and checked the vehicle. Following this, he handed over the bag to the RK Nagar police station. Meanwhile, Ravindrakumar (58) of Poonamallee had registered a complaint that he had missed the bag in an autorickshaw while travelling to Kilpauk. The bag was handed over to him after inquires.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner also rewarded crime inspector Rajeev Prince Aarun, head constable Johnson and Grade-I constable V Radhakrishnan, attached to the Virgambakkam police station, who acted swiftly and traced the bag of a journalist. The police said Naveenkumar (26) took an auto from Virugambakkam to Muthuramalinga Thever Street around 2.30 pm on Wednesday. After reaching there, he realised that he had left his bag containing a costly camera in the auto and lodged a complaint at the Virugambakkam police station. Following this, the three policemen conducted inquires and found that Naveenkumar travelled in the vehicle of one Sakthivel (38). They traced the vehicle and found the bag in the backseat. During enquries, the police found that Sakthivel was not aware that passenger had left the bag in his vehicle.
