Another sr citizen reunited with family

A Chennai Corporation official said that the mentally challenged Kanniyammal (65) was found wandering by local police in Kanathur in April. “She was sent to a Corporation night shelter run by Little Hearts NGO. As Kanniyammal could not remember her address and only said she was from Kundrathur, we checked with the Kundrathur police and found no missing case was filed there,” the official said.

Meanwhile, Kanniyammal’s relatives in Neelankarai came to know that the civic body had reunited Achai Lal of Uttar Pradesh through newspaper reports and sought help from the Corporation. “We shared Kanniyammal’s photo in our WhatsApp group and asked NGOs that run night shelters to check their inmates. We found her at Neelankarai night shelter,” the official added.
