“Due to the controversial statement on Nadar community there is every chance that enmity between Nadar and other communities will emerge and the minds of students will be poisoned. State government should demand the CBSE to remove the controversial part entirely,” said state Minister for Tamil Development and Tamil Culture K Pandiarajan, at the fast, heldin Chennai.
Various Nadar outfits and members of Nadar community had been demanding since 2012, to remove the controversial statements on Nadar community from the CBSE book. Late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa also demanded the CBSE to remove the controversial statements on Nadar community, but the statement continued to be in the book.
Condemning the CBSE for being insensitive on the issue, Nadar outfits joined together once again demanding the removal of the controversial statement. Pandiarajan has said that state government will once again take the issue to the CBSE and will ensure that the controversial part on Nadar community will be removed from the syllabus.
Leaders from other Nadar outfits and Nadar community recalled the contribution of the leaders of their community in the past to the Tamil society. Seeman said that Vaikuntar was the first person in the state to organise a community feast where persons of all the community were given food, even before governments started to follow the practice.
He also said that leaders from the community like former CM Kamaraj, helped large number of students to get education in the state but the community was portrayed in a bad manner. Similarly, PMK leader GK Mani quoted the lines of PMK founder Ramadoss said that if Kamaraj would not have come to power Ramadoss would not have become doctor. Many leaders from the community, like Nesamani Nadar, Si Pa Aditanar and Ma Po Sivagnanam, played a pivotal role in restoring the pride of Tamil people, said Mani.
