MTC bus driver, conductor rewarded for returning bag with Rs 2.47 lakh in cash
City police Commissioner AK Viswanathan rewarded an MTC bus driver and a conductor for turning over a bag containing Rs 2.47 lakh to the police after its owner left it in the bus.

Sources in the police said that Venkaiah (44), a resident of Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, had left his bag behind in an MTC bus (route number: 114) which shuttles between Redhills and CMBT.
At 9 pm on Saturday, bus driver Dilli and conductor Sayyed Ismael found the unclaimed bag on a passenger’s seat. They examined the bag to discover the cash and immediately informed the deputy manager of Anna Nagar West depot, Kesavarama, who subsequently handed over the bag to the police.
Meanwhile, Venkaiah had filed a complaint at Redhills police station about the bag. The details of the complaint were shared with the Anna Nagar police, who was called to identify the bag. Venkaiah told police that he had come to Chennai as his mother was admitted to a hospital here and forgotten his bag in the bus.
