4 die in separate accidents in Chennai, suburbs
Four persons were killed in four separate accidents, including two hit-and-run cases on GST Road, on Saturday night.

One of the victims, Subramani (33) of Perungalathur, was returning home on his two-wheeler when he was fatally knocked down in a hit-and-run case. An unidentified vehicle hit Subramani’s vehicle from behind on GST Road at Maraimalai Nagar and sped away. Subramani, who suffered injuries on his head, was taken to the Chromepet GH where he was declared dead on arrival, the police said.
In another case of hit-and-run on GST Road near Mamandur, Selvarajammal (65), a resident of Padalam, who was crossing the road on Saturday night around 8 pm, was run over by an unidentified car. The passers-by rushed her to the Chengalpattu GH where she was declared dead. The Padalam police have registered a case and are investigating.
In Kundrathur, a loadman working in a courier firm, while traveling on a two-wheeler, rode into a small pit and hit an electric pole head on in the impact.He was taken to a government hospital, where he succumbed to injuries two hours later.
A 43-year-old woman, who was riding pillion with her son, died after she fell on Porur - Kundrathur Road on Saturday night. The Police said that the victim Selvi (43) of Saligramam was riding pillion with her son Dilli Babu (26). Dilli Babu applied sudden brake after a van in front of him stopped abruptly. However, the bike rammed the van and Selvi fell off the bike in the impact, said the police.
