Train heist: Identification parade postponed
The identification parade of the train heist accused scheduled for Wednesday was postponed to Friday.
Chennai
The parade of the seven persons arrested in connection with the train heist case, in which Rs 5.8 crore was looted from a moving train two years ago, was to be held in Puzhal Central Prison after getting an approval from the court on Wednesday. But it was postponed to Friday because the magistrate was not available, sources added.
The investigators are hoping that witnesses they have cited would identify the suspects during the parade. CB-CID sleuths have so far arrested seven persons in connection with the case, and are looking for at least six more suspects. The gang had made a hole on the roof of the moving train with cash using battery-powered cutters on the night of August 8, 2016. The train travelling from Salem to Chennai had Rs 342 crore soiled notes. The gang escaped with Rs 5.8 crore as the train was moving between Chinna Salem and Vriddhachalam.
