However, the man died by the time the flight landed and the emergency team rushed to check. Police said Vijay Kulkarni from Mumbai and wife Alfa Kulkarni went to Port Blair four days ago. Around 9.30 am on Tuesday, as they were returning to Mumbai on a flight that departed from Port Blair, Kulkarni complained of chest pain.
As Chennai was the nearest airport, the pilot contacted the Air Traffic Control (ATC) seeking permission for an emergency landing. Soon after the flight landed, a medical team rushed inside the flight. But when they checked, Vijay Kulkarni was already dead. On information, the airport police retrieved the body and sent it for autopsy, while the flight departed to Mumbai.
