Workshops to guide budding start-up bizmen
With the city being a booming hub for young entrepreneurs in the last few years, an innovative idea titled Empowering Entrepreneurs — the Startup Workshop Series aims to guide the more enterprising among them to safe harbour.
Chennai
Often, youngsters, inspired by the likes of TV shows like Shark Tank (that invites aspirants to pitch a start-up idea on screen) come up with great products, but rarely have the know-how to bring it successfully to market — or more importantly, deal with the various ramifications involved inthe process.
Nimisha Philip, the legal head and vice-president at Halbe, that begun the initiative, said, “We wanted to create a workshop series where each session would deal with one particular aspect of entrepreneurship. How to bring the product to market, legal advice, seeking investors, the right time to introduce the product... there are a number of such things to keep in mind. Experts in each field are present to host the session, after which there is an interaction and exchange of dialogue.”
The topics vary at each workshop: A deep dive into start-up venture funding in India, legal contracts and intellectual property, cross-border business setup, enterprise valuation and IPO, and understanding the relevance of product market fit and its implications are the various realms of entrepreneurship.
“We have two more to go in the series, but due to popular demand, we are now going to organise more – one every month, as more and more youngsters seek advice. We have attendees who are mostly start-up founders in their first or second stage, and college students as well as who are looking to scale their ideas and develop them into a business,” said Nimisha.
Held at Madras Management Association in the city weekly, the next edition of Empowering Entrepreneurs will be this Thursday on November 15.
