A tribute to 30 inspirational women across the country

Ghana’s recent project — a project where she painted 30 portraits of 30 women with inspiring stories on 30 walls from Kanniyakumari to Srinagar — garnered her a lot of attention.

Talking about it, she says, “On a mission to empower women, my friend Srishti Bakshi walked from Kanniyakumari to Srinagar for 260 days. The campaign was called CrossBow Miles and I decided to be a part of it. During my journey, I met many women who had inspiring stories to share — how they beat poverty and fought all odds to become successful, how they choose an unconventional path and so on. The stories were so inspiring and I wanted to honour them in some way or the other. I suggested an idea to paint various walls with the portraits of these women. CrossBow Miles team liked it and gave me a nod. They met the government officials and did all the paperwork.”

Through her painting project, Ghana wanted to showcase the strength and positivity of the campaign. Once the journey ended, she did a culmination portrait on a canvas in Mumbai. The self-taught artist doesn’t limit to any particular styles of painting. “I love wildlife and have learned to associate every person with an animal. Recently, I did a documentation project in Kashmir were I illustrated the local people, Kashmiri culture and their lifestyle,” she adds.
