Cop ransacks ex-lover’s house, gets arrested
Furious after his lover, a married woman, broke up with him, a 32-year-old policeman allegedly barged into the woman’s house in an inebriated condition and damaged a television set and other articles on Thursday night. He was arrested.

The arrested person was identified as Rajnikanth, a head constable who was deployed for security duty at the MGR – Jayalalithaa memorial on Marina beach.
Police said he was reportedly in a relationship with a 29-year-old married woman, who earlier stayed in Choolaimedu with her husband and daughter. But she chose to end her relationship with Rajnikanth after observing that he was attracted to her teenage daughter also.
She also shifted her house to Chetpet. However, he traced her new house in a bid to meet her and continue with the relationship.
Police said Rajnikanth became angry when the woman rejected his appeals to continue therelationship. On Thursday evening, the head constable consumed alcohol and went to the woman’s house. After an argument with her, he began to damage the household articles claiming that it was he who purchased allthose for her.
The woman informed her husband about the incident and later filed a complaint with the Chetpet PoliceStation. Rajnikanth was arrested under four sections of the IPC, including 448 (trespassing into a house), 294(use of obscene words), 427 (damaging articles) and 506 (criminal intimidation). Police said Rajnikanth, had earlier befriended the woman through an autorickshaw driver who knew her. This later developed into a relationship with her.
