Commuters’ Tales: Bride meets her wedding planner on a train
In this series, Chennaiites who regularly use public transport, share some interesting sights, encounters or even conversations they’ve had during their daily commute.
Chennai
It was nearly impossible for me to reach my home in Maduravoyal by any mode of public transport — until the Metro Rail came into service. My office is in Chetpet so now I take the train from Kilpauk to Koyambedu every day and a taxi from there.
Once, while I was getting into the train, a girl frantically asked me if I had mobile network on my phone. She wanted to call her own because she had left it at the ticket counter. I obliged and she was reunited with her phone finally. When she got into the train, she thanked me profusely and we got talking. She told me she was a wedding planner who was desperately looking for a client because she hadn’t had one since the co-founder of her company and she had dissolved their venture.
I don’t know if it was my luck or hers but I happened to be that client — a frazzled bride in search of a wedding planner! Shrishti (name changed) went on to organise my entire wedding really well.
