18 booked for drag racing on Anna Salai
As many as 18 youngsters, including 13 students of various colleges, were booked by the city traffic police for allegedly indulging in a drag race on Sunday on arterial roads, including Anna Salai. While 15 of them were arrested, three of them remained absconding. Police had also seized nine bikes.

The youth were booked under the IPC sections and also provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act for dangerous driving on busy roads.
The racing incident came to the notice of the traffic police after one of the racer identified as Sushil (20) crashed his bike and was injured on Anna Salai stretch between Anna Fly over and Spencer junction.
“They were zigzagging through the Sunday afternoon traffic on Anna Salai on three bikes when Sushil lost control and fell on the road. He and Bashith suffered injuries. One of their friends took Sushil, on a bike to a hospital,” police noted. Police however managed to track the youths using the registration numbers of the two-wheelers on Sunday night. Police noted that Sushil had escaped after getting treatment. “We are looking for him and two others”.
Police noted that the bike racers were active on RK Salai and Sterling Road apart from Anna Salai.
