DMK gets nod for Karunanidhi statue

According to civic body special council resolution, DMK can erect the bronze statue on the Open Space Resource (OSR) land.

“The permission has been given after site visit and a proper communication will be sent to the government to obtain final permission. After receiving the government permission, the statue can be erected,” an official said.

The resolution also has made the revenue department in Chennai Corporation as the nodal agency for sending applications to erect statues in future.

Meanwhile, sources in DMK said that the bronze statue is currently being made and would be erected next month. It may be noted that the OSR land in Anna Arivalayam is already housing a statue of another late Chief Minister, and founder of DMK — CN Annadurai.
