“We at ‘Inaindha Karangal’ (hands together) are trying our best by distributing pamphlets in various districts. The Rs 1 lakh reward amount was generated through public initiative,” said Sadiq Ali, a businessman from Karur, who is part of the initiative on Facebook.

This is not the first time Inaindha Karangal is lending a helping hand to struggling families. “So far, we have helped four families for their medical expenses in major surgeries. We are hopeful of our searches being fruitful in the case of Harini as well,” he added.

Harini went missing on September 15 night from Anaikattu when she was sleeping near her father Venkadesan (30) and mother Kaaliammal (25). Hailing from Pauvnchur in Maduranthagam, her parents  used to sell accessories. At 1.30 am that night Venkadesan realised that Harini, who was sleeping inside the mosquito net, was missing. Following this, the Anaikattu police registered a case.

Kancheepuram SP Santosh Hadimani formed two special teams to trace the child.

The team found that kidnappers used a two-wheeler to kidnap the girl. According to the police, on the day of the incident, two men on a bike arrived at the petrol bunk on the Pauvnchur-Annaikattu Main Road.  Police said that the pillion rider was waiting on the main road with the girl while the rider alone came inside the bunk to fill petrol.

After inquiries with the petrol bunk staff, the police had then released the photo of one of the suspected kidnappers retrieved from the CCTV camera at the petrol bunk. Apart from police, many from the couple’s community are also engaged in the search. Any information on the missing girl can be given at 98947-87728, 73737-33899 and 70103-49268.
