Kulshrestha, accompanied by Divisional Railway Manager Navin Gulati, travelled by an EMU and inspected FoBs at Egmore, Mambalam, Guindy and St Thomas Mount. While inspecting the provision and expansion of FoBs at Mambalam and Guindy, the officials paid special attention to raising platform height and other safety parameters in St Thomas Mount station.

The GM spent considerable time studying the dimensions of the foot over bridges at the stations. Rail commuters have for long been demanding widening of FoBs at Guindy, which is among the busiest stations in the city.

SR officials have instructed the engineers to expedite the expansion of FoBs at Egmore, Mambalam and Tambaram, besides construction of new foot-over bridge at Guindy, all at an estimated cost of Rs 8 crore. SR has proposed escalators at Mambalam, Guindy and Tambaram at a cost of Rs 1 crore.
