PWD to build infrastructure for 111 government schools
The Public Works Department (Buildings) will provide infrastructural facilities for 111 government schools across the State at an estimated cost of Rs 200.18 crore under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Developmentās (NABARD) loan assistance scheme.

The Public Works Department (Buildings) will provide infrastructural facilities for 111 government schools across the State at an estimated cost of Rs 200.18 crore under the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Developmentās (NABARD) loan assistance scheme.
A top official attached to the PWD said, āThe PWD undertakes the project for the Department of School Education (DSE). It is intended to upgrade the government high and higher secondary schools with new classrooms, science laboratories, toilets, compound walls, necessary furniture, lab equipment.ā
The project is built on a sharing pattern between the NABARD and the State government in the ratio of 85:15. The NABARD has already sanctioned their share of Rs 170.15 crore under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) loan for 2018-19.
The rest of the sum, Rs 30.03 crore, will be allocated by the government. Under this project, 888 classrooms will be built with both ramp and staircase. The other facilities are 111 science laboratories, 104 drinking water facilities, 255 toilets and compound wall measuring 39,478 metres. The DSE submitted the revised proposal after standardising classrooms in accordance with the strength and number of sections.
