The victim was identified as L Kalaiyarasan (23) of Kannikapuram. The Railway police said that Kalaiyarasan’s mother died several years ago and he was living with his father and younger brother. Six months ago, his father too died, pushing the youth into depression. He was also irregular to work since then, police said. On Friday, he killed himself by jumping in front of a train.
According to Kalaiyarasan’s friends, his younger brother Kalaivendan told them that Kalaiyarasan was trolled on ‘Musical.ly’ app, where one can act or mimic to popular movie dialogues.
After Kalaiyarasan posted videos in which he acted like a woman, he was made fun of. Dejected over the online humiliation, he is said to have committed suicide. However, the Railway police said that there was no evidence that he committed suicide because of the trolls.
