    Addressing a hurriedly convened press meet soon after Leena Manimekalai finished her interaction with the media on Tuesday evening, director Susi Ganesan denied the allegations.

    “It’s not fair that everything a woman says is blindly believed. That is not what the movement is about. Both sides should be heard before an opinion is formed. But, the movement has reached a stage where everything the woman says is considered to be the sole truth,” he said. 

    Denying the allegations against him, he said, “I am not trying to defend myself, but I am going to court to prove to my children that I am innocent.” 

    He also sought to mention her poems (in which she has not shied away from dealing with subjects including menstruation) to claim that she uses “such language in her poetry where she even names the body parts”, which, according to him, “makes people uncomfortable to read”. 

    This, he added, was because Leena was “merely trying to achieve fame through these allegations”, he charged.
