Spate of snatching cases in Chennai
Snatchers had a field day in the city on Monday during which victims lost cash, gold and mobile phones.

Harikrishnan, a private firm employee from Adambakkam, was about to deposit Rs 20,000 at a kiosk in Kilpauk. When he took out the cash, two persons, who followed him snatched it and sped away. Kilpauk police identified them as a transgender and minor with the help of CCTV footage.Â
In another case, Monisha of Royapettah, who was returning home with her husband, lost her handbag with two mobile phones and Rs 2,000 to bike-borne duo on New Avadi Road. Meanwhile, S Saravanan of Kumbakonam, an IT company driver, who was watching a film on his mobile phone, lost it when a bike-borne duo snatched it.Â
In the fourth case, Karaneeshwari was returning home with her daughter when two youth on a bike snatched her five-sovereign chain and escaped. Similarly, a woman lost her chain to bike-borne duo on Monday evening. Choolaimedu police have registered a case.Â
