NLC to tie up with IIT-M for courses on power generation
NLC will be collaborating with IIT - Madras’ National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) to offer courses related to power generation, mining and renewable sector. The content of the course will be created by course instructors from IITs/IIScs.

NPTEL’s co-ordinator, IIT Madras Professor Prathap Haridoss, on Friday said, “We hope this partnership will pave the way for more Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) to recognise the potential of our courses and encourage them to partner with us.”
According to Prathap, NPTEL has delivered open online courses for certification since 2014. “Starting from one course with 1,180 people writing the examinations in June 2014, NPTEL will offer 270 courses this semester alone with more than 1.6 lakh candidates registered for exams in October 2018.”
NPTEL partnered with over 2,020 colleges, who have formed NPTEL Local Chapters. “Courses like knowledge management, project management, marketing management, leadership, entrepreneurship is opted by working professionals, who are looking to move to Management cadre or train themselves better,” said Prathap.
Companies, including IBM, Infosys, Aricent Technologies and Glass Academy were identified as the forerunners in this and started partnering with NPTEL in the last few months.
