    Imposter cops rob labourer of Rs 4,000

    Two men, who posed as policemen, robbed a construction worker of Rs 4,000 in Pattabiram on Saturday afternoon.

    The police said that Ezhumalai, a resident of Avadi, had come to Pattabiram modern city to purchase liquor from a TASMAC shop. When he was standing near the shop, two men on a bike approached him and told him that the police inspector had called him. 

    Believing their words, he got onto their bike and when they reached near Sekkadu Ambedkar Statue, they asked him to hand over the money he had. When he refused, they attacked him and robbed Rs 4000 he had. Realising that he has been robbed, he filed a complaint with the police. Further investigation is on.

    Meanwhile, unidentified persons looted three neighbouring houses in Porur. While 16 sovereigns were stolen from the house of Baskaran, five sovereigns each were stolen from the house of Sadasivam and Ranagarajan, said police.
