In a communication issued to all the district secretaries, coordinators and members of the executive committee in each district, RMM State organisation secretary Illavarasan said the meeting will be held between October 5 and 11 at its head office here.

“As the launch of the party draws near, Rajinikanth wants to review all the work that has been done over the course of the last nine months since he announced his decision to enter politics,” a RMM source told DTNext.

“The aim is to make all the information collected through surveys and campaigns transparent to RMM members as well as the public. The meeting also provides an opportunity to verify the membership count,” the source said, adding that Rajinikanth could elaborate on his political plans next month.

Earlier, the RMM leadership took a series of measures to curb spreading of rumours and resolve inter-organisational disputes. It also gave a directive to district-level coordinators to monitor communication on official WhatsApp channels.

Meanwhile, actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan is expected to tour more districts as he aims to popularise his vision of gram panchayats in every village.

He had mooted the idea of paying salaries to the heads of Panchayats, a practice followed in Kerala, to increase accountability.

Sources from his Makkal Needhi Maiam party said the 63-year-old will intensify his public campaigns as the second season of Bigg Boss nears its end.

Kamal’s party is also set to continue adopting select villages, with an aim towards transforming them into smart villages.

The party flag was hoisted at Kottivakkam, Palavakkam and Injambakkam on Sunday by its State executive committee member AG Maurya. More than 300 MNM members participated in the event.
