SIM cards seized from Puzhal inmates
The crackdown on jail inmates at Puzhal Central Prison continued on Thursday, with the jail staff conducting yet another round of surprise inspections.
During the drive, four mobile phone SIM cards were seized, sources said. Police said the raid inside the prison were conducted by two officers, during which two inmates were found to be in possession of mobiles phone SIM cards – a banned item within the prison walls. The inspection came in the backdrop of media reports that revealed the cosy lives led by a number of prisoners, including access to mobile phones, TVs, and even biriyani rice and other materials to run an expensive private mess.
