Actor-daughter tussle: Vanitha evicted, 7 held

Following a complaint from veteran actor Vijayakumar at Maduravoyal police station against his daughter Vanitha for not vacating his house that was rented out for film shooting, a police team on Thursday night evicted Vanitha and arrested seven persons, who were residing there.

The police action came after Vanitha, who has acted in a few movies, failed to produce ownership documents of the house. Police said the seven men were arrested and a case has been registered under four sections of the Indian Penal Code, including of trespassing.

The disputed property is located at Ashtalakshmi Nagar in Alapakkam near Maduravoyal.

Police noted that the father and daughter had locked horns over the property after Vijayakumar failed to get the house back from his daughter, who had taken it on rent for shooting.

When she failed to vacate the house, Vijayakumar initially tried to reason out with her. However, she allegedly claimed that she would not return the house, claiming to have the right to live there. Infuriated by this, Vijayakumar lodged a complaint at Maduravoyal police station recently.

It may be recalled that when police visited the house to conduct enquiry with Vanitha on Thursday, the actress reportedly abused media persons who had gone to cover the police action.
