Ekta’s ‘luv’ for shoes knows no limits

Entrepreneur by day, fashionista by night, Ekta John’s one true love has always been shoes. Apart from her husband that is. The duo run an event management company and while they’re not busy scurrying around getting things in order, you can see her better half turn photographer, patiently waiting for Ekta’s shoes to look Insta-perfect! Yes, she reviews footwear and what started off as a hobby, has now got quite the fan-following.

Her love for shoes stems from her hometown Agra. “More than shopping from showrooms, people there have a fancy for street footwear. My dad would always take me to weekend markets and buy me whichever shoes I liked,” says Ekta. From then on, her passion and interest towards shoes increased, “So I thought why not review shoes and brands so those interested will know what to purchase or what not to?” she adds.

Her process of reviewing goes something like this: for her it’s mostly about value for money so she looks at the brand’s reputation, how much she paid for a pair of shoes, if it’s worth the money she spent and the comfort. “I even mention how one can pair footwear with outfits, as well as maintenance of shoes in terms of cleaning and storing,” explains the blogger.

“I also like to clear myths like the more expensive a pair, the better the quality. Instead, I urge people to understand the nature of their feet so they’ll know what kind of shoes he/she can wear. Different styles like platforms, stilettoes or ballerina flats exist only to cater to people with different feet, right?” For example, some people might have an arch, some might not — “Those without an arch might’ve been told for years that they can’t wear heels but this again is a myth. Platforms or comfortable block-heels will suit such individuals without making their feet hurt,” she says.

Another interesting aspect of Ekta’s #theshoeluv is the pencil sketches she does. “My craze to draw shoes began after I watched an episode of Shark Tank, where a lady had come up with a line of shoe accessories. I thought about how I’d like to get into designing of footwear according to different individuals’ feet. So I keep sketching or painting the patterns that I might want to create,” she smiles.
